The Borden County Jail, constructed in 1896, is one of the oldest in West Texas. Constructed by Diebold Safe and Lock for $4500, the jail has two foot thick rock walls and the cell walls are one-third-inch steel plates. An old (1967) historical marker nearby gives a brief history of the jail. The building has been repurposed but tours are available by arrangement.
