Note the appearance down low on the reverse of what appears to be the place for a photo medallion. There's a story here, now lost to the ages, and the sculptor was also unaware that Woodmen of the World don't lie, evidenced by the goof in the epitaph. The inscription reads:

S.D. Cherry

Born
Mar. 28, 1870.

Died
Feb. 15, 1903.

A loving husband, a father
dear,
A faithful friend lies buried
here.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
