The small town of Alyth lies amidst rural surroundings in the eastern part of Perthshire in Scotland. The town's First World War memorial can be found to the south of the town at Alyth Muir on the corner of Airlie Street and Meigle Road. It was unveiled by the Earl of Airlie on July 9th 1922 and dedicated by the Rev'd James Meikle, the Minister of the Parish.

The memorial is dominated by a female figure in bronze, holding a sword and winged victory, whilst kneeling on top of a tapering stone in the style of a cenotaph. This sits on top of a three-stepped base. The figure was sculpted by Kellock Brown of Glasgow, with the memorial designed by architects Wright & Wylie. It was built by Messr T Howie & Co. of Alyth.

The figure faces northwards towards the town and underneath on the plinth are metal plaques on all four faces. A metal shield on the north face carries the following inscription:

'IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS DISTRICT WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE'

The four plaques contain 119 names and rank from the district who fell during the conflict. The names are:
