Luctor et Emergo by Meg Merxc
English:
This impressive sculpture consists of a total of 10 different elements.
Synopsis
In its stylized execution and arrangement, the sculpture group tells the history of man and his ever-lasting battle with the world around him.
The struggle of (naked) man... who, although belonging to a herd... individually struggles to stay up. Or is he struggling not to perish?
Borderland
Human. Where does he draw his line? Does he rise out of the country (large bust images) Does he have the courage to stick his head above ground level or cross the border and go under (smallest image).
Material
Scrapwood: dull pink. Weather, wind and rain resistant. Waste wood has been used to emphasize the impermanence of people and the environment, but also the recoverability of people and their environment.
The bright baby rose color is synonymous with the skin: the fragility, which serves as an emotional wallpaper that gives the angularity and cubic design language of the elements a human face.
