Saint-Maxire owns the Habites windmill and 7 water mills: Croisette, Périgné, Martin, Courençay, Saint-Maxire, Les Habites and Guémoreau. More than 700 souls live in Saint-Maxire which unfolds along the right bank of the Sèvre.
