The B952 is a short road that serves the small Perthshire town of Alyth, entering the town from the south-east and forming the main route through the town before heading back out again to the north-east. It is on the north-eastern fringe of the town at Meethill road that this cast-iron milestone can be found.

It is located on the south side of the road on the pavement and despite being rusted the lettering is still readable on the three faces. The placenames being Alyth, the centre of which is half a mile away, Dykends, a small settlement to the north at the end of the B954 road, and Glenisla which is a further three miles from there on the B951.
