Waterous Steam Fire Engine
The Waterous Engine Works Co. built the Waterous Steam Fire Engine in Brantford, Ontario, Canada in 1899. This was the third engine bought for Dawson City and was put into commission in 1900. This engine was quite powerful as it could pump a maximum of 1300 gallons per minute and had to be pulled by 4 horses due to it weighing 5.5 tons. Once this engine was bought there were later additions and uses for it. The firefighters added many more valves and piping to the side of the engine so that it could be used for the firehall heating supply. When the engine was being used for heat, the boiler always had to be going which came in use when there was a fire in the community, because it would only take 5 minutes to get a full head of steam to create pressure to use.
