Description: From Find A Grave-Major League Baseball Hall of Famer. Nicknamed "Home Run" not for the amount of homers he hit, but for the timeliness of them. He was an integral part of Connie Mack's early 1910's Philadelphia Athletics. He helped them to four World Series appearances (the A's winning 3 of them). He received his nickname during the 1911 series against the New York Giants when he hit game-winning home runs on two consecutive days (one being hit off of the great Cristy Mathewson). Baker was sold to the Yankees in 1916 after sitting out a season in a contract dispute. He ended his career after the 1922 season, but not before helping the Yankees to their first two World Series trips. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955 by the Veterans Commission.
