Pleasant Point was a community here from 1875 to the early 1900s, another victim of progress as the railroad came to nearby Lillian to drive residents and businesses in that direction.

In a cemetery setting, arches symbolize a gateway from the land of the living to the hereafter. This marble arch is in excellent condition, standing on a base with an urn between its piers, which extend above the arch itself. A third cap is in the center. There is floral detail throughout, with morning glories at the top center on both sides, and the family name, "Smyth", is at the bottom of each pier. The inscriptions read:

S.M. Smyth

Wife of
T.V. Smyth

Born
Mar. 21, 1836

Died
Feb. 23, 1896

She was a kind and affec-
tionate wife, a fond mot-
her, and a friend to all.

-----

T.V. Smyth, Sr.

Dec. 26, 1829

Asleep in Jesus, Oh, to
see,
What my waking
form shall be;
To be like Him will
be my bliss,
For I shall see Him
as He is.
