The lobby of the Baker Hotel was the place to be seen if you were a cattleman in the early days of Deming.

The Baker Hotel is a red brick building constructed between 1908 and 1913. It has two stories with the ground floor lobby facing predominantly on to Spruce Avenue. Wood framed windows and transoms tie the individual bays together and a number of retail shops occupied some of the bays. The original sign, in remarkably good condition, still hangs at the corner of Spruce and Silver. A beauty shop still occupies one of the ground floor bays.
