"Buckingham Field is a private-use airport located seven nautical miles (13 km) east of the central business district of Fort Myers, in Lee County, Florida, United States. It is privately owned by the Lee County Mosquito Control District. The Buckingham Air Park (East and West) have deeded access to the airport." (

Buckingham Field's designation is FAALID FL59, it has two concrete paved runways 14/32 measuring 4,046 x 400 feet and 6/24 measuring 2,726 x 400 feet.
The airport was originally built in 1942 for the United States Army Air Corps as a training facility for gunners during World War II. It was known as Buckingham Army Air Field and Flexible Gunnery School. It officially closed in 1945. (

Today it is the home base for the Lee County Mosquito Control. On the east and west sides of the airport is the Buckingham Airpark a private "live with your plane" community that has access to the runways. (
