Long Description:
History of the Hotel

"In 1877 the first Cloudland Hotel was built. It was a mere 20 room building that would soon be replaced by the grand 166 room Cloudland Hotel in 1885. The larger Cloudland Hotel boasted beautiful Maple floors and Cherry beds.

It also sat on the state line between Tennessee and North Carolina. This allowed the sale of alcohol on the Tennessee side and the comical tale of North Carolina police officers patrolling the other side.

The eventual demise of the hotel is rather controversial though. Many articles claim it burned, while others say it was disassembled and used in the construction of nearby houses."
