A memorial plaque in Bath Abbey, Bath, with the arms of William Tudor, FRCS.

The inscription reads -
SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF
WILLIAM TUDOR ESQUIRE
FELLOW OF THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS
OF ENGLAND,
INSPECTOR GENERAL OF ARMY HOSPITALS,
AND, FOR MANY YEARS, AN EMINENT SURGEON
IN THIS CITY.
HE DIED AT KELSTON KNOLL, IN THIS COUNTY,
JULY 9.1845.AGED 76.


"Born on April 18th, 1769, and joined the 2nd Dragoon Guards as Surgeon by purchase on May 25th, 1791. He was Staff Surgeon under the Duke of York in the Campaign on the Continent, having been appointed on April 19th, 1794. He became Assistant Inspector of Hospitals on November 13th, 1799, and was afterwards Deputy Inspector of Hospitals. He retired on half pay on August 24th, 1805, and was promoted Inspector of Hospitals (brevet) on July 19th, 1821. After his retirement he practised or resided at Bath. He died at Kelston Knoll, near Bath, on July 9th, 1845, but his death was not reported at the College till 1848."

His wife was Dorothy Fenwick Tudor, daughter of NICHOLAS FENWICK Esq., of Lemmington, Northumberland. She died 9th December 1823, aged 39.
