This is the only fire station of East Hubbard County Fire District, a volunteer fire department with first responder personnel. The fire district includes the City and Township of Akeley, White Oak Township, and Badoura Township--about an eighth of the county, in the southeastern corner. They also participate in mutual aid with neighboring departments.
The firehouse is a single-story structure on Minnesota State Highway 34, with a meeting room as well as bays to house apparatus. A statue of a firefighter is out front.
