A bronze relief sculpture of Jonathan Edwards was created by Henry Adams and installed in the church in 1900. The relief depicts the former Puritan minister of the Northampton church wearing clerical robes and holding a book to his chest with his left hand. His right hand pointing downward with his index finger extended. Below is a curved dado with the inscription:

THE LAW OF TRUTH WAS IN HIS MOUTH AND

Jonathan Edwards was born on October 5, 1703 in East Windsor, CT. He entered Yale College in 1716 at age 12. He became a fiery preacher who was influential in creating the First Great Awakening in America. His theological writings created the the New England School of theology.
