AW1532 - "Y 1183" bench mark disk - Baytown, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

As described by the NGS in 1973 (although already monumented by the CGS back in 1963):

"[...] 5.2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE POWER POLE SUPPORTING A STREET LIGHT AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL BOX, 42 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF A PHILLIPS 66 SERVICE STATION, SET IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH SIDE OF AN ABANDONED CONCRETE FOUNDATION FORMELY SUPPORTING THE PHILLIPS 66 SIGN, AND ABOUT 3 INCHES ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE CONCRETE DRIVEWAY."

The Phillips 66 gas station is long gone, but the rest of the NGS description is still quite accurate -- and so are the distance estimates.

Likewise, the NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 29 43 12.45 W 094 58 46.68") were in line with mine: my measurements were "N 29° 43.207 W 94° 58.778" with 5-10' accuracy.

The station was recovered in good condition.
