This benchmark is located near the southern entrance of the Brazoria County Courthouse in Angleton, Texas... right by a flagpole at that location.

As described by the NGS in 1973 (although already monumented by the CGS back in 1942):

"[...] AT THE SOUTH SIDE OF BRAZORIA COUNTY COURTHOUSE, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CIRCULAR CONCRETE FOUNDATION OF A STEEL FLAG POLE [...] 31.2 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF THE BOTTOM CONCRETE STEP OF THE SOUTH ENTRANCE TO THE COURTHOUSE, 1 FOOT SOUTH OF THE FLAG POLE, ABOUT 1/2 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE STREETS AND 0.4 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND"

The NGS description is still very accurate -- and so are the distance estimates. Likewise, the NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 29 10 03.96 W 095 25 52.68") seemed quite accurate as well: my measurements were "N 29° 10.066 W 095° 25.878" with 10' accuracy.

The station was recovered in good condition.
