The Southern Viewing Platform is a lookout with views over the south coast & hinterland. The plaque sits at the start of the track just as it enters the forest. The platform is at the end of the track about 100 metres away.

The platform was opened by Mr Gareth Ward, State Member for Kiama, Clr Mark Honey, Mayor of Kiama & Mr David Chambers, President Kiama Rotary.

Gareth Ward was a Councillor for Shoalhaven City Council from 2004 to 2012. He was elected as Member for Kiama & Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly on 26 March 2011 representing the Liberal Party. He is currently the Member for Kiama & Minister for Family, Communities & Disability Services.

Clr Mark Honey is currently the Mayor of Kiama Municipal Council.

Rotary Club of Kiama president David Chambers continues in the position.

The Project was initiated and developed by the Rotary Club of Kiama and Kiama Municipal Council with support from NSW Government to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rotary involvement in helping develop Saddleback Mountain for the community.
