Wild Turkey Strand Preserve is the third-largest Conservation 20/20 preserve in Lee County. The preserve is located just south of Lehigh Acres on the west side of State Road 82.
Although all amenities are ADA-accessible, only the western section (0.7-mile) of the 1.8-mile Gunner's Trail is ADA-accessible. Please note that during the summer rainy season, primitive sections of the trail may be wet or underwater. At the southern end of the ADA portion of the trail is a raised bird watching platform. Made of recycled timbers with a bench for seating and a informational placard with wildlife identification of possible sightings. This platform overlooks a low marshy area that is a frequent location for wading birds during the summer rainy season. Be watchful for the Snail Kites due to the large snail population in this area. During the drier months you will see birds of prey such as the Red Shouldered and Red Tailed Hawks along with Swallow-tailed Kites. Other birds observed are Caracara, Egrets, Herons and Wild Turkeys. A bird list of recorded sightings can be obtained at this link: (
