A wooden sounding board in St Peter's church, Sandwich.
Made redundant in 1974, the church was stripped of almost all of its furniture when it passed to the Churches Conservation Trust. What is seen here, mounted on the wall by the font, is a ‘sounding board’ which would have been above a 17th century pulpit to help project the preacher’s voice.
