Vor dem neuen Luxus-Shoppingcenter Kö-Bogen in Düsseldorf liegt der Schadow-Platz. Der Platz ist benannt nach einem alten Denkmal zu Ehren des Malers Wilhelm von Schadow. Der Platz ist beim Neubau des Kö-Bogen völlig neu gestaltet worden, das Denkmal bildet aber bereits seit 1869 das Zentrum des Platzes.

Bei dem Denkmal handelt es sich um eine klassizistische Bronze-Büste des Malers auf einem Syenit-Sockel. Es wurde vom Düsseldorfer Bildhauer August Wittig 1869 anlässlich des 50-jährigen Bestehen der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie geschaffen. Es wurde seitdem mehrfach restauriert und steht seit 1994 unter Denkmalschutz.

Wilhelm von Schadow (1789-1862) war Maler und Leiter der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie. Zusammen mit Peter von Cornelius begründete er die sogenannte Düsseldorfer Malerschule, eine Vereinigung von Malern im 19. Jahrhundert aus dem Umfeld der Kunstakademie.
The plaza Schadow-Platz is located in front of the new luxury shopping center Kö-Bogen in Düsseldorf. The square is named after an old monument in honor of the painter Wilhelm von Schadow. The square was completely redesigned when the Kö-Bogen was built, but the monument has been the center of the square since 1869.

The monument is a classicist bronze bust of the painter on a syenite base. It was created by the Düsseldorf sculptor August Wittig in 1869 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. It has been restored several times since then and has been a listed monument since 1994.

Wilhelm von Schadow (1789-1862) was a painter and director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Together with Peter von Cornelius, he founded the so-called Düsseldorfer Malerschule, an association of painters in the 19th century from the area of the art academy.
