The "Then" photo is an undated photo of what was then known as the Public Steamboat Landing, a dock that juts out into Presque Isle Bay at the foot of State Street in Erie, Pennsylvania. The "Now" photo shows the same location, now known as "Dobbin's Landing," which has changed considerably, namely by the addition of the Bicentennial Tower. The "dock," as it is known to locals, has long been a popular spot in Erie for strolling along the water, meeting with friends, fishing, and, of course, ship docking. Its current name was given as a memorial to Daniel Dobbins who organized the building of the American fleet at Erie which fought in and won the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
Year photo was taken: 1930
