Saint John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) [Czech: Jan Nepomucký; German: Johannes Nepomuk; Latin: Ioannes (or Ioannis) Nepomucenus (c. 1345 – March 20, 1393) is the saint of Bohemia (Czech Republic), who was drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and he refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On the basis of this account, John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies and, because of the manner of his death, a protector from floods and drowning.

Barokní socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého z roku 1741 je situována na prostranství pred Obecním úradem ve Slupi. Na ctvercové základne stojí bohate dekorovaný podstavec složený ze strední hranolové cásti, k níž ze dvou pohledove bocních stran priléhají bocní voluty, které jej nad profilovaným odstupnovaným soklem v celé délce rozširují do stran. Na celní strane je uprostred podnože ozdobná kartuš s rytým latinským nápisem a chronogramem k roku 1745. Podstavec je zakoncen výraznou rímsou, nad kterou leží plintus nesoucí tradicne ztvárnenou sochu svetce. Sv. Jan Nepomucký v typickém odevu stojí v mírném kontrapostu a svírá v rukou krucifix, z ramen mu vychází kruhová svatozár s hvezdami.

Na kamenném podstavci sochy se v ozdobné kartuši dochoval rytý desetirádkový latinský nápis v novoveké kapitále s chronogramem k roku 1745.
