Das Basecamp Bonn ist ein eher ungewöhnliches Hostel in Bonn-Dottendorf. Die Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten werden dort statt in Zimmern in ausrangierten Fahrzeugen angeboten. Dazu zählen:
  • 13 Retro-Wohnwagen
  • 2 Schlafwagen der Deutschen Bahn mit 28 einzelnen Abteilen
  • 4 US-Airstreams
  • Einzelne Kuriositäten wie z.B. eine Schweizer Skigondel oder ein Trabant mit Zeltaufbau
Die meisten Fahrzeuge stehen in einer großen, ehemaligen Fabrikhalle, die von innen bemalt und als Campingplatz thematisiert worden ist. Einer der beiden Schlafwagen steht aber auf dem Gelände rechts vor der Halle. Dieser kann somit auch von Besuchern besichtigt werden, da das Gelände frei zugänglich ist. Betreten werden kann den Wagen allerdings nur von Hostelgästen.

Bei dem Wagen handelt es sich um einem ausrangierten Schlafwagen der Deutschen Bahn mit 14 Abteilen, die einzeln vermietet werden. Er wurde weitestgehend originalbelassen, nur der Eingang wurde mit einem kleinen Vorraum mit Treppe und abschließbarer Tür umgestaltet.
The Basecamp Bonn is a rather unusual hostel in Bonn-Dottendorf. The accommodation options are offered there instead of in rooms in discarded vehicles. These include:
  • 13 retro caravans
  • 2 Deutsche Bahn sleeping cars with 28 individual compartments
  • 4 U.S. Airstreams
  • Individual curiosities such as a Swiss ski gondola or a Trabant with a tent ontop
Most vehicles are in a large, former factory hall, which has been painted from the inside and has been themed as a campsite. However, one of the two sleeping cars is outside on the site to the right of the hall. Hence, this one can also be inspected by visitors, as the site is freely accessible. However, only hostel guests can enter the car.

The car is a discarded Deutsche Bahn sleeping car with 14 compartments that can be rented individually. It was largely left in its original state, only the entrance was changed with a small anteroom with stairs and a lockable door.
