This turtle crossing sign is located along the main park road in Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania. Turtles are a common sight at the park and therefore a few of these signs have been installed in high traffic turtle areas. While I did not see a turtle when visiting this sign, I have seen many over the years at the park.
Presque Isle State Park is a 7-mile long peninsula that juts out into Lake Erie. The peninsula creates Presque Isle Bay, which is what made the city of Erie a prominent port city in years past. Today the park is one of the most popular destinations in Erie for fishing, hiking, biking, bird-watching, and spending a day at the beach.
