The present Christ Church Cathedral, built in 1841, is the fifth church that has occupied this spot. The year 1861 marked an historic beginning for the islands; Nassau became a city and Christ Church was made a Cathedral.
The tower erected in 1830 is a four-sided structure with a clock face on each side. The dials display the hours in golden Roman numerals and the minutes with a dot. The clock hands are also golden.
