The unique Hop astronomical clock (Chmelový orloj) is part of the Temple of Hops and Beer (Chrám chmele a piva) in Žatec. The Žatec astronomical clock is one of the six functional astronomical clocks in Czechia.
The astronomical clock consists of a steel structure measuring 4 × 7 meters coated with copper sheet. The idea of the architect of the Temple of Hops and Beer, Jirí Vanícek, was realized by the artisan blacksmith Petr Podzemský in August 2010. The actual dial of the astronomical clock with the zodiac is decorated with motifs from growing and harvesting hops and you can find there also skeleton with a bell. Below the dial are moving figures of beer drinkers, below them is a symbolic hell - as imagined by brewers, with the Latin inscription Memento Lupuli Saczensi Cereviseae (Remember beer from Žatec hops).
