Oquaga Creek State Park (visit link)

The cache "OQ1 - Lovely Creekside Spot" is accessed from roadside parking. It is outside what would normally be considered the park with lake, trails, camping. It is by a small creek in the woods. The cache is adjacent to the foundation, but not in the walls.

This area was settled after the American Revolution, land was given to the soldiers as pay. Before that it was Indian land by treaty with Britain. Many moved on to the mid-west which had better soil and farming conditions. The abandoned land was bought up mostly during the Depression. Parks and State Forests are on this abandoned land. There is an old apple orchard nearby.
