Even nearer to Highway 3B than 78H7511, 78H7513 will be found near the east end of Thompson Avenue, in the centre of the street, covered by an iron valve box, the cover of which is presently stuck in place.

Rossland, home of Olympic Gold Medalist Nancy Greene, is a mountain town and, as such it receives a lot of snow. Its best known local attraction in the winter is Red Mountain Resort, a renowned ski resort. In the summer Rossland attracts mountain bikers from around the world to test their sills and stamina on the world class mountain bike trails surrounding the town. With all that snow inevitably comes lots of sand on the streets through the winter. Come spring and melting snow, much of that sand washes into the many benchmark valve boxes arrayed on the streets. The result is that all become filled to overflowing with sand and silt. Many (most?) become impossible to open without the use of power tools. So, most of markers submitted in Rossland include photos of the valve box, but not the actual benchmark beneath. Each is stamped British Columbia Control Survey. There's no mention on the datasheets whether the series are intended for vertical or horizontal control, though data for both is included. The iron covers are stamped "SURVEY MON".
