The original part of the structure was built in 1809-10 as a Friends Meetinghouse. Converted into a residence in 1926, it has served since 1942 as the local Community House, a place for holding meetings and gatherings. Two single story wings have been added to the north or back side of the building in the 20th century, but the better part of the old meetinghouse exterior has survived.
