8. Former general store and doctor’s office: Built c. 1819-24 by Lewis Arnold and sold to Halsey P. Walcott in 1824. It is a one story, flank-gable, clapboard structure, with an end-gable shed at its right-hand end. Now a residence, the building was used in its early years by Dr. Halsey Walcott as a doctor’s office and by him and his brother, William A. Walcott, as a general store. The door into the former doctor’s office at the left side of the building has now been replaced with a window. The structure remained in use as a general store under the Perkinses and William Howe into the twentieth century.
