The Lime of Liberty / Lípa svobody - Klimkovice (North-East Moravia) - Community Commemoration on Waymarking.com

Depicted Lime of Liberty (Lípa svobody), planted on October 28, 2018 on the occasion of the celebration of 100 years of Czechoslovakia, is located in the park at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity (kostel Nejsvetejší Trojice) in Klimkovice.

The Trees of Freedom symbolize the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic, and in 1918 and 1919 people planted thousands of them. Mayors, pupils and members of local associations took part in the planting. And they were betting in later years (1928, 1945, 1968) whenever people wanted to remember and celebrate the importance of freedom and democracy. This tradition continued in 2018 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, when 2,766 new trees were planted on 4 continents. Lime (Linden, genus Tilia) tree (Czech: lípa) is Czech national tree and one of the national symbols of the Czechia, so lime was planted as a Liberty Tree.

The Lime of Liberty, planted by Klimkovice municipality, is marked by stone with tablet bearing following inscription in Czech:
