This sundial is inserted within a recess at the lower end of the Charlottetown tower that, in earlier times, served to hang the firemen's fire hoses. A half circle at the top is covered with decorations, while the pointer or gnomon is at the bottom pointing up. There is another small pointer to its right. The sundial faces Kent Street and is in close proximity to Queen Street.

A plaque on site reads as follows:

This sundial created by
Mr. Ronald Arvidson of Bonshaw
was presented by Premier
Joseph A. Ghiz on behalf of
the Province of PEI to the
citizens of Charlottetown,
represented by his worship,
mayor John E. Ready on
September 13,1990, and is
symbolic of the Province's
affection for and appreciation
of Prince Edward Island's
Capital City.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
