NL: De kapel is door de familie Dubois-Groenen op haar eigendom gebouwd uit dankbaarheid voor de behouden terugkeer uit de wereldoorlog 1914-1918 van hun zoon Jozef. Na het overlijden van de laatste eigenaars van de hoeve 'Groenen' maakte de Vlaamse overheid gebruik van haar voorkooprecht en kocht zij deze monumentale hoevegebouwen inclusief de kapel, met het oog op afbraak, omdat deze boerderij inclusief de overige zes boerderijen van Herbricht gelegen zijn in de winterbedding van de Maas. Sedert april 2002 is de afbraak van deze boerderij een definitieve maar jammerlijke realiteit. Het Neerharens parochie-comité wist echter de sloop van de kapel in dit idylische Herbricht te voorkomen. Na verschillende jaren van verwaarlozing is de kapel onderworpen aan een grondige opknapbeurt en heeft pastoor Gust Vanherck deze renovatie op 27 juli 2003 plechtig afgerond met een openluchtmis aan het Herbrichts devotiehuisje.

EN: The chapel was built by the Dubois-Groenen family on their property in gratitude for the safe return of their son Joseph from the World War 1914-1918. After the death of the last owners of the 'Groenen' farm, the Flemish government made use of its pre-emption right and bought these monumental farm buildings, including the chapel, with a view to demolition, because this farm, including the other six Herbricht farms, are located in the winter bed of the Maas. Since April 2002, the demolition of this farm is a definite but unfortunate reality. However, the Neerharen parish committee managed to prevent the demolition of the chapel in this idyllic Herbricht. After several years of neglect, the chapel has been thoroughly renovated and Pastor Gust Vanherck solemnly completed this renovation on July 27, 2003 with an open-air mass at the Herbricht devotional house.
