John Kern Barn-Slatington's oldest surviving structure was built circa 1807, by Nicholas Kern's grandson John. Nicholas Kern's Homestead once occupied the area in front of the barn. The barn's western portion was removed in 1894 to accommodate the opening of Diamond Street.
