Det gamle Stevns Fyr blev bygget i 1816-18 som en apsis til fyrmesterboligen og var, da det blev bygget, et af de mest moderne fyr i Europa. Fyret fungerede til 1877 hvor der blev bygget et nyt fyr.
Fyret var et blusfyr, hvor kul blev afbrændt i store jerngryder. For at skelne det fra Falsterbo Fyr blinkede det en gang hvert halve minut.

The old Stevns Lighthouse was built in 1816-18 as an apse for the lighthouse master's residence and, when it was built, was one of the most modern lighthouses in Europe.
In 1877 a new lighthouse was built to replace the old one.
