The coronavirus pandemic has affected so many businesses in many different ways. An Edmond liquor store will only offer curbside and delivery options in order to keep their staff and families safe.

With Gov. Kevin Stitt’s signature today, alcohol delivery is permanently legal.

That’s good news to an Edmond liquor store, whose owners were forced because of concerns for their employees and their families to switch to curbside and delivery exclusively.

Rima Krabuanrat, co-owner of Eddie’s Liquor in Edmond, said her store was closed for two months before deciding to reopen, offering curbside and delivery only.

"We're in the unique circumstance where unfortunately the owner and literally all of our employees are high risk or live with somebody who is high risk,” she said.

After 20 years of offering aisles of bottles for shoppers to browse, the store has revamped their system to be online.

"So they can just order online from the safety and comfort of their home,” Krabuanrat said.

She said sales have dropped from 200 sales a day, pre-COVID, to half that.

"They want to browse,” she said of customers. “They are upset they can’t enter the store.”

But now that delivery is permanent, she hopes customers will adjust and appreciate the convenience.

"Keep everybody safe but still meet their needs … without jeopardizing employees or customers,” she said.
