Alvarado, Minnesota town with a population of 410 is located in Marshall County. City Hall is located on Marshall St., the main street of Alvarado and the sight of most businesses in town. Alvarado started out as and continues to be a farming community. The biggest employer in Alvarado is MarKit County Grain, located on the rail line at the north side of town. This business started as an elevator for temporary storing and shipping of grain. MarKit continues to take care of these needs and has expanded into selling seed and fertilizer and agricultural financing.
The City Hall is in the same building as the City Shop and the building is a simple metal pole barn, with a knee high brick facade.
