The small town of Alyth is situated in the eastern part of Perthshire on the north side of the vast rural area of Strathmore. Its cemetery was acquired, like in most towns in this part of Scotland, on a large site on the outskirts of the town after the church graveyard became overcrowded.

The cemetery is situated in a rural setting to the south of the town, near the hamlet of New Alyth. With no formal entrance as such, it is reached along a driveway heading westwards from Airlie Street, which links the town from the A926 road to the south.

The site is large and relatively open, being surrounded by farmland. There are many plantings of trees, although none particularly tall.
