Elmer Thomas Park is located on the northeastern side of Lawton. Just south of the lake there are numerous military memorials and displays. This Koren War memorial is titled The Forgotten War. It consists of a large granite monument standing on a circular concrete pad.
At the center a raised black granite pillar has a map of Korea with various cities and significant points marked. This portion is engraved "The Forgotten War/25 June 1950/27 July 1953" and shows that the monument was placed by Lawton Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 319.
To the right on a granite slab entitled Korean Defense are the emblems of the five military branches, plus the emblem of the veterans association. On the left the granite slab is engraved with the Comanche County Veterans Killed in Action (19 names). Engraved across the bottom of the monument are the names of 65 individuals and businesses who donated funds for this monument. An online newspaper article indicates that this monument was dedicated on June 25, 2012. Korea
