The Rosewood Apartments is managed by the Lahood Properties and is the southwest corner lot at the corner of East Rosewood Ave. and Shook Ave. The apartments are built around a large open commons area with sidewalks and benches and open grassy areas. In the center of the open grassy area is a very large stump of an oak tree that has been decorated creatively to look like the living space of a community of gnomes. There is a steep shingled roof over the stump, several windows, and a "Welcome to Our Garden" sign over the main doorway entrance. Surrounding the tree trunk is a rock garden with numerous colorful gnome figures. Some are in small groups or pairs, while some are by themselves.
This appears to be making the best of a tree that had been cut down, probably due to storm damage some time in the past. The Wee Doors to this gnome village are facing toward Rosewood Avenue, so passers-by can easily see the decorative wee little figures around the stump from the walkways of the courtyard.
Since this is an apartment complex and is not a public park, please be respectful and only look briefly while remaining on the sidewalks. Also, please observe the restricted parking signs along Rosewood Ave and obey the designated No Parking areas. There are plenty of places to park but you may have to walk back a house or two depending on time of day.
