Philippe Aubert de Gaspé fils

1814-1841

Auteur du premier roman canadien
d’expression française, L’Influence d’un
livre (1837), rédigé à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli,
Philippe-Ignace-François Aubert de Gaspé naît à
Québec le 8 avril 1814. Il travaille de 1840 jusqu’à
sa mort, le 7 mars 1841, à Halifax, où il fut enterré.
Il reposerait dans le cimetière du Poor House.

Author of the first Canadian novel of
French expression, L’influence d’un livre
(1837), written in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli,
Philippe Ignace-François Aubert de Gaspé was
born in Quçbec City on April 8th, 1814. He
worked from 1840 until his death on march 7th,
1841 in Halifax where he was interred. It is believed
he was buried in the Poor House cemetery.
