Description On the foreshore of the downstream gate, we note, dug in the limestone base and partially covered with green algae, old oyster beds, whose cultivation only lasted a few years. Above, next to the arch, there is a huge black hole in the cliff: the 'manhole' which takes its name from a Swedish sailor, the only survivor of the sinking of his ship due to a violent storm that would have lasted nearly 24 hours. It would have been thrown by a blade into this cavity, thereby ensuring its survival. The 'manhole' which is accessed by an iron ladder is always above water at the time of the tides and many people allow themselves to be locked in it, requiring the intervention of firefighters or a wait of almost six hours for low tide.

The long tunnel on which the 'manhole' opens leads to the Petit-Port cove at the mouth of the Valleuse in Jambourg, making it a beach at the foot of the needle and framed by the two large doors . You can reach the top of the cliff by a staircase directly at the end of the Perrey, followed by a well laid out, sloping path which runs along the golf course; on the right, you go up to the summit. We enjoy both the view of the village, the needle and the Manneporte. You can also enter the small natural refuge nicknamed 'Chambre des Demoiselles, described by Maurice Leblanc in L'Aiguille creuse.

Sur l'estran de la porte d'aval, on note, creusés dans le socle calcaire et couverts partiellement d'algues vertes, d'anciens parcs à huîtres, dont la culture n'a duré que quelques années. Au-dessus, à côté de l'arche, on remarque un énorme trou noir dans la falaise: le « trou à l'homme » qui tiendrait son nom d'un marin suédois, seul survivant du naufrage de son navire dû à une violente tempête qui aurait duré près de 24 heures. Il aurait été projeté par une lame dans cette cavité, assurant du même coup sa survie. Le « trou à l'homme » auquel on accède par une échelle de fer est toujours hors-d'eau au moment des marées et nombre de personnes s'y laissent enfermer, nécessitant l'intervention des pompiers ou une attente de près de six heures pour la marée basse.

Le long tunnel sur lequel s'ouvre le « trou à l'homme » aboutit à la crique du Petit-Port au débouché de la valleuse de Jambourg, en fait une plage au pied de l'aiguille et encadrée par les deux grandes portes. On peut accéder au sommet de la falaise par un escalier directement au bout du Perrey, suivi d'un chemin bien aménagé, en pente et qui longe le terrain de golf; à droite, on monte jusqu'au sommet. On jouit à la fois de la vue sur le village, sur l'aiguille et sur la Manneporte. On peut également pénétrer dans le petit refuge naturel surnommé « Chambre des Demoiselles, décrit par Maurice Leblanc dans L'Aiguille creuse.
