Located in the Black Range in the eastern edge of the Gila Wilderness is the 8000+ Emory Pass.
I have been through this route more times than I can count and is majestic each and every time.
I hid some "GOLD HERE ONCE".
It is still here I lost the coordinates to the ammo can full of gold.
As a kid my grandpa brought me up here and told me of his and oof friends and adventures of the gold mines located in this region.
I have other friends in Silver City who brought trailer loads of gold ore from out of here.
There use to be a spring along the road where you could stop and get the best and coldest drink of water you ever had.
Well This ought to be plenty to get you up here someday.
History:: A century ago, this was the summer lands of the Chiricahua Warm Springs Apaches. Geronimo was their leader and shaman.
Magnificent scenery highlights this curvy drive through the Black Range and over 8200-foot Emory Pass. The Vista Point at Emory Pass is a handicap-accessible place to take a break and enjoy the eye-popping views. Restroom, tables, and grill are available at the Vista, which is also a trailhead.
