Elmer Thomas Park is located on the northeast side of Lawton. On the northeast side of the park next to Lake Helen, there are numerous monuments and military displays. The Vietnam monument is a tall black granite pillar with a map of Vietnam. Various cities are engraved on it. At the base 5 emblems of the branches of the military are engraved, along with the emblem for the Vietnam Veterans of America. The words "DUTY - HONOR - COUNTRY" are shown, plus a dedication reading "Presented to the City of Lawton by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 751 / 9 November 2001."

In front of the monument is a patio of donated pavers, and facing the monument are rows of dedicated benches.
