Long Description:
This is the proverbial corrugated metal shack, atop a concrete platform. The seats are mounted on unfinished wood. For a privy, it's in very good condition, with little debris on the floors, and only tell-tale signs of wasps taking up residence. The handle is a little tricky, but once it's in place, it's secure, which probably explains why the critters haven't gotten in to make their homes there.
Why Is This Privy Here?:
This is certainly here for visitors, and while there are no facilities for decoration days, the open space at the front of the cemetery on the west side is a good place to establish headquarters for a yearly clean-up. The privy would easily be handy on those days.

Description:
This cemetery is still active, with nearly 300 burials. Findagrave lists burials from the 1880s, and those are probably represented by the fieldstones near the back of the cemetery. Otherwise, the earliest visible dates are from the 1890s. Findagrave also lists the cemetery as being in Hoxbar. Details about this community are scant, and there's but a single reference to its being a town in the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture. It does appear on a few maps, and parts of it are probably under Lake Murray.
