Gothic church of Hopfelde, HE-DE

A tiny, late gothic church was literally build around 1510. The inside walls shows Virgin Maria graffitis, so it should be normally older than the Reformation. I read the year 1419 over the entrance.

Hopfelde is first documented as Hubfelde in calculations by the Reichenbach office from 1383.

In 1409 the lords of Hundelshausen were given goods to Hopfelde by Landgrave Hermann II and in 1516 by Landgrave Ludwig II. In 1562, Hermann von Hundelshausen handed over his goods to the Landgrave Philipp at Hopfelde. In 1569, Landgrave Wilhelm IV. Leaned Johann von Ratzenberg with hooves at Hopfelde, as did Messrs. Kanne von Lügde in 1581. 1575/85 were several hubs to Hopfelde hessian fief of the pot. In 1593, Landgrave Moritz mortgaged von Meisenbug with goods to Hopfelde.

In 1579 the village had 18 men and fireplaces, 1639 six and 1650 only four (impact of the Thirty Years' War). In 1679 there were again 17 fireplaces. The population rose to 80 in 1750. According to the 1970 census, there were 334 and today there are 326 inhabitants.
