Restauranten ligger i den gamle bydel, lige bag H.C. Andersens Hus. Bygningen er opført så langt tilbage som i 1771 og blev frem til 1965 anvendt som privat bolig og rugbrødsbageri. Fra 1965 restaurant. Restaurant Under Lindetræet tilhører kategorien gourmetrestauranter.
