Excerpt from the New Orleans City Guide 1938: "The Cornstalk Fence, 915 Royal Street. Of interest to visitors of the French Quarter is the cast-iron fence enclosing the garden at the above address. The date of its construction is indefinite, but it seems probable that the fence was built around the year 1850. The design represents growing corstalks entwined with the vines of morning-glories."
