"The town emblem was adopted on Oct 2nd 1964. The maroon flag has a white town emblem in the center and the kanji name in white horizontally at the bottom part. Ban of Bandai in a form of a mountain. It represents Mt. Bandai as a symbol of the town."

"Bandai is located in the northeastern part of the Aizu Basin, bordered by Yamagata Prefecture to the north. About 70% of the town is occupied by forests, with agricultural land and settlements along the hills at the southern foot of the mountains and along the Otani River. Oliver is a small town about 25 km north of the Canada and US borders and about 185 km north of Chelan, Washington. It is estimated that from Oliver to Bandai, Japan is 7,600 km.

Oliver, British Columbia is primarily an agricultural community with an abundance of apple, cherry, peach and apricot orchards, in additions of grapes that are processed into exquisite wines with over 40 wineries in the surrounding area.

The Sister City sign is in front of the Oliver Visitor Centre and is home in a relocated 1923 railway station that served the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and a branch line of the Kettle Valley Railway, to transport fruits and vegetables to Vancouver.
